Texas Tech has become one of the most talked about NIL programs in the Big 12. The Matador Club, its primary collective, funded a widely reported roster spending push heading into the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and the school's aggressiveness extends beyond football: softball pitcher NiJaree Canady's move to Lubbock came with the first widely reported seven figure NIL deal in her sport. Since the 2025 House settlement, Texas Tech can also pay athletes directly through revenue sharing, roughly 20.5 million dollars in year one with annual growth. For a program without blue blood history, the Red Raiders have used donor money deliberately to compete with the sport's traditional powers for talent.
