West Virginia enjoys an NIL advantage many bigger schools lack: it is the only major program in its state, with no professional teams competing for fan attention or sponsor dollars. Country Roads Trust, the primary collective, channels that statewide loyalty into deals for Mountaineers athletes in football, basketball, and other sports. The program competes in the Big 12, whose media revenue keeps it on power conference footing.
