Tennessee runs one of the most aggressive NIL operations in the SEC. Spyre Sports Group, the collective that grew up around the program, was among the first in the country to organize football compensation at scale, and the athletic department was also early to fold athlete pay into its regular finances, adding a talent fee to football tickets to help cover revenue sharing under the 2025 House settlement. That settlement lets Tennessee pay athletes directly, about 20.5 million dollars across sports in year one with annual increases, most of it flowing to football. Between institutional money, an enormous fanbase, and an established collective, the Volunteers consistently rank among the biggest spenders in college football.
