Northwestern is one of only two private schools in the Big Ten and has the league's smallest fanbase, and its NIL market reflects that: the TrueNU collective supports athletes, but almost no Wildcat football players appear in national valuation databases, so published figures are nearly all estimates. What Northwestern does have is Big Ten revenue. The House settlement lets the athletic department pay athletes directly under the roughly $20.5 million first-year cap, which rises annually, giving even the league's smallest brand the same direct-pay mechanism as its rivals. The rebuilt Ryan Field project signals continued football investment, and Chicago's corporate market offers endorsement possibilities for athletes who build individual profiles.
