Stanford's NIL situation is unusual among power conference schools. The Cardinal now play an ACC football schedule, and the program brought in Andrew Luck as general manager to modernize how it builds rosters, but its NIL market has stayed restrained relative to the enormous wealth of its alumni base, partly because admissions standards limit how freely it can work the transfer portal. A 2026 roster review found published valuations for only one or two Stanford football players, so most estimates for the roster are modeled. Like other Division I schools, Stanford can share revenue directly with athletes under the 2025 House settlement, around 20.5 million dollars in the first year across sports, alongside outside NIL deals.
